One of the things that makes Cookie's cartoon artwork so distinctive is the amount of detail hidden within it.
People often see the main joke or character first.
But look again.
There may be something happening in the background.
Pen and Ink with Watercolour by Cookie
Roof Rack of Lamb
Traditional hand painted original, initial sketch made with one of Cookie's 'abandoned' pencils. An abandoned pencil is one which he has picked up from the ground. It may have been discarded, could be half a pencil, broken or split pencil, run-over pencil, a pencil stub or any of which that may have left in it such a broken hopeless state. Yet just as the pencil may have believed it had made its final scribble, it played its part in creating 'Roof Rack of Lamb' - where the sheep, far from being a menu option, is heading for the coast.
